Adaptive Architecture

Adaptive architecture is about fundamental elements (concepts or properties) of integrated adaptive human (BIPS: business, information, professional, social), technology (ADPI: application, data, platform, infrastructure) and facility (SEHA: spatial, energy, HVAC, ancillary) system or ecosystem  (value network of systems) in its secure environment (PESTLE: political, economic, sociological, technological, legal, and environment), relationships (type, strength), and the principles (adaptive design) and evolution.

The adaptive architecture has two key aspects: adaptive architecture design and practice. The adaptive architecture design provides a high level generic metamodel and layers.

Adaptive Architecture Design – High Level Generic Metamodel
(Architecture Subject Areas)

These generic elements from the metamodel can be combined with the following adaptive architecture layers for defining the evolving adaptive architecture design: interaction (experience), business, information, professional, social, application, data, platform, infrastructure, spatial, energy, HVAV and ancillary architecture viewpoints, views and models.

Adaptive Architecture Design – Layers
(Viewpoints, Views, Models)

The adaptive architecture practice deals with the  initiation, discovery, implementation, adaptation and governance of adaptive architecture design and its evolution.

Adaptive Architecture Practice

Applied Adaptive Architecture Streams

Adapt Inn offers advisory, coaching and learning workshops in following integrated streams of applied adaptive architecture.

The duration of each adaptive architecture stream workshop is 4 days.

Participants should have basic awareness about architecture design and practice.

Objectives & Learning Outcomes

At the end of these workshops, the participants will be able to:

  • Gain a good practical understanding of the model-driven applied adaptive architecture process, scenarios, styles, patterns and metaphors of the relevant stream.
  • Plan, analyse, prototype (architecture spike) and model the integrated adaptive architecture views.
  • Perform architecture gap analysis, roadmap, implementation planning and governance.

The workshops will be hands-on, interactive and project driven. It will include concepts (C), discussions (D), examples (E), exercises (E) and feedback (F) activities (CDEEF). Participations will work on a real-world adaptive architecture project from beginning to end in small teams. Applied adaptive architecture project is organised into following stages.

  • Initiative: Architecture Work Request
  • Initiate: Adaptive Architecture Vision & Scope
  • Discover: Adaptive Architecture Work Planning, Analysis & Modelling
  • Implement: Adaptive Roadmap & Implementation Planning
  • Adapt: Review & Evolve
  • Govern: Alignment, Collaboration, Compliance, Integration & Risk Management
